Mission : Leap Beer, 366 Beers in 366 Days

About the mission

I made a mission for myself this leap year. 2012 will be my Leap Beer, where I will sample 366 beers over the course of the 366 days. Some days I will post a more than one beer to it, other days I may not post at all. I’m trying to get a good start in January/February so when things get busy later in the year its not a problem.

My goal is to get as many of the local beers as I can. I intend to sample every available beer on vancouver island and as many from British Columbia as I can. I’m also trying to avoid the big boys as much as possible.

Contact me via the blog , to heav_c@hotmail.com or via twitter @heavycf if you have any questions or comments.

Def told me about this and what a great idea! Excited to have a good blog to follow all year so thanks to you!

  2. I must say, I had this idea in December and almost actually went through with it, but got cold feet when friends started asking if I’d also be documenting my weight along the way.

It doesn’t really stop us from having a beer with dinner every night anyway, but I’m glad someone did it and I’m excited to see what you come up with.

Nice Irish selection tonight by the way, Slainte!

    • Thanks for checking it out. I didn’t even think of the weight issue until another reader mentioned it. So I returned to my dieting ways, which allowed for beer drinking, and increased (aka started) exercising regularly. I’ve actually lost about 10 lbs since January.

Just a Q for my curiousity if you will, where’d you hear about the blog? And what’s your favorite beer? If I can get it in BC I’ll add it to the rotation.

      • Thanks for replying. And congrats on the weight loss…I should have thought of that. I secretly wasn’t sure I could come up with that many options, but I suppose it’s very possible. Maybe next year 🙂

I found you because I search blogs that tag Guiness pretty frequently. There’s always something awesome and Irish that pops up. I’m a stout girl, but to be honest, lately I’ve been loving the beer my husband’s been making. (He’s not even reading this, so I mean it). I’m a big fan of Yards Brewing Company here in Philadelphia. I like an occassional McSorley’s, always a fresh Guiness and I do enjoy hoppy beers. We are always trying something new. I’m excited to follow and I promise I won’t rip off your blog 🙂

  3. Just stumbled upon your blog, and I love your concept! We’re sort of doing a similar thing with our beer blog (theyearinbeer.wordpress.com). I’m definitely going to keep checking back for some suggestions. Good luck with your epic alcoholic endeavor!

Love the idea! My fiance and I don’t go so far as to try a new beer each day, but we try a new craft brew each Friday. Looking forward to reading more of your reviews.

Our favorite breweries are Dogfish Head from DE, and as mentioned in another comment, Yards from Philadelphia.

    • I’ve wanted to try a Dogfish Head beer since seeing them in beer wars. Still no dice, but I’m going to get some soon. Thanks for checking it out the blog. If I can find Yards I’ll try that too.

  5. What a great idea!!! I’d heartily recommend the Phillips Ginger Beerhttp://phillipsbeer.com/Beers/ginger-beer (don’t see it on your list), and the Sea Dog Amber Ale from Vancouver Island Breweryhttp://www.vanislandbrewery.com/default.aspx?PageID=1038 . What about Fisgard 150 Bavarian Lager (my hubby’s current fave) http://www.lighthousebrewing.com/products/signature-brands/fisgard-150.

Happy beer hunting! I’ll come back from time to time and share some finds.
